The West Central Wisconsin Consortium was created in 1973. It includes the following UW-System institutions; Eau Claire, La Crosse, River Falls, and Stout. It consists of a Board of Trustees which includes the four Chancellors as members, a commission, which includes eight members, the four Vice Chancellors and four faculty members (one from each institution); and the Office of the Secretary/Coordinator (currently at River Falls). It was established to conduct a system-mandated review for graduate programming in the region. It has subsequently extended its activities to look for ways for working together which would take advantage of a larger cluster of institutions, for influence on public and system-wide policies, and for sharing of expertise and cooperative services without losing institutional autonomy.
