Organization and Governance of Universities
Abstract
Professor Bleiklie will present an analysis of the ways in which ideas and ideals of university organization and governance have changed over the past few decades, moving away from a notion of the university as a republic of scholars towards the university as a stakeholder organization.
Bleiklie's presentation will include a discussion of influential, supranational trends in university governance; an analysis of how change may be promoted or limited within universities; research findings about international variation in the level of change within university organizations; and an analysis of how change and variation may be understood in terms of higher education.
