Abstract:
Personal and military correspondence and papers of William George Haan, a professional soldier who rose to the rank of major general in the United States Army as commander of the famous 32nd “Red Arrow” Division in World War I. The collection documents his work on a general staff board of officers studying fortifications and land defense, and as chief of staff of the eastern department. The photographs document France during World War I and the Spanish American War in the Philippine Islands.
