Abstract:
Letters from Wisconsin officers to the governor in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the Wisconsin militia recommending subordinates for promotion to fill vacancies caused by death, discharge, or promotion. A few documents relate to the popular vote for officers conducted by a company or regiment. The correspondence was deposited with the Adjutant General who was responsible for actually issuing the commissions.
