A collection of case files produced by the Dane County District Attorney, including adult misdemeanors and felonies. The cases were selected primarily for their historical significance, which was determined based upon their impact upon the community and the attention they received from the news media. Prominent or common case subjects include: abortion; arson; animal abuse; assault and battery; assault on a police officer; bail jumping; bombing; contributing to the delinquency of a minor; distribution of obscene material; the Dow Protest; driving while intoxicated; escaping from custody; false imprisonment; fraud; gambling; gun-related offenses; homicide; indecent exposure; narcotics; prostitution; tax evasion; and theft.
