Abstract:
Records, 1903-1963, collected by the Department of Public Instruction related to the education of children with disabilities, particularly the education of deaf students. Of note is information about the number of children educated in state sanatoria and the number of deaf students in schools across the state. Also of note are teacher certificate applications from individuals who taught at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf and other institutions of deaf learning across the state. Two folders in this collection are restricted under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); they are a survey of students at the Paul Binner School and enrollment information for students at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf.
