• The new market building in the Yao (Iu Mien) town of Nam Kheung (PC 3256, LS-150) in Houa Khong Province was dedicated on February 9, 1972. The market received assistance from USAID, including carpenters, tin roofing and cement. The wood and self-help labor was donated by the villagers from around the Nam Kheung area. Here, a Yao mother rides with her daughter and son on a cart pulled by two oxen carrying bamboo poles which presumably will be split, dried and woven into matting for walls.
