An invitation to a September 1, 1945 wedding dance at the Silver Lake Hotel in honor of Sally Pekulik and Harry Walters is printed on a 3.25" x 5" penny postcard that was postmarked August 26, 1945. The invitation features a small oval picture of the Silver Lake Hotel (also known as the Silver Lake Resort or the Silver Lake Lodge), which was located about four miles west of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The popular hotel and dance hall owned by Martin Ouker was the site of numerous parties and dances during the World War II years, including several submarine commissioning parties. The invitation notes that Marvin Brouchoud and his orchestra would be playing "good old time & modern music" for the wedding dance.
