Undated photo of the "Myers Grand Opera House," as seen from the back of the theater. Built in 1870 by Peter Myers at a cost of $25,000-$30,000, it had a 32-foot stage, red plush seats, wood ornaments covered with gold, several chandeliers, and could seat 900 people. A fire damaged the theater in 1889, but it was rebuilt in 1891 and renamed the "Myers Grand Opera House" at that time. Some of the famous entertainers who performed there were Eddie Foy, Raymond Hitchcock, Richard Mansfield, Al Jolson, Harry Lauder, and several minstrel groups.
