COLOPHON: "In the fall of 2001, while the smoke and dust from the World Trade Center was settling over New York City, Mac McGill was creating this series of images. The original drawings were acquired by the Library of Congress. Published by the Booklyn Artists Alliance, 2003. Made possible through the generosity of Miranda Edison. Designed and relief printed by Mark Wagner. Bound by Sara Parkel. Fifty hardcover copies are numbered 1 to L. One hundred softcover copies are numbered 1 to 100. This is copy XXXVIII."
This heroically-scaled book collects all eight of McGill's pen and ink images from the effects of 9/11. These were first seen in issue 32 of World War III: Illustrated. It was also featured in the group show Reactions at Exit Art from 26 January - 30 March, 2002. The original work was subsequently purchased by the Library of Congress for its permanent collection.
The images are letterpress printed from magnesium plates, with text in lead type, onto Rives heavy weight paper. End sheets are of blood-red Moriki, with laminated jet-black buckrum covers. The folios are pamplet-stitched.
