The dramatized story of Janesville, Wisconsin resident Joseph Dutton, Civil War veteran who later converted to Catholicism and joined the Secular Franciscan Order, becoming known as "Brother Joseph." In 1886, he traveled to Hawaii and the leper colony on Molokai, devoting the rest of his life to caring for the individuals exiled there.
