The new cement block school in Muang Meung (PC 5292, LS-93) in Houa Khong Province was officially dedicated on September 14, 1972. The different ethnic groups were represented at the celebrations, including these five Akha women. Each of them wears traditional silver-decorated headdresses and flower-shaped breast pins, while three have silver neck rings. The headdresses are comprised of bands of silver with gibbon fur tassels. The man behind them is the USIS representative in Luang Prabang, Mr. Paul Altemus. Phagna Houmphanh Saignasith, Minister of the Economy,officially dedicated the new school.
