FROM FRONTMATTER: "I've aimed at making a hybrid--a happy child of the precious artist book and the expedient zine. . . . In an attempt to increase readership, each of the included books was manufactured in an edition of two hundred and made available to the man on the street at a modest price. To combat the inertia of extravagant production, all seven books were made within a single year. The methods of artist book production--letterpress, rubber stamp, hand application, varied formats and paper types--were limited to economical use and employed in tandem with the photocopier. Fifty copies from each of these editions were set aside to create the Library in a Book compliation. The collection preaddresses the problem of housing a number of various diminutevely sized books. It is ready for instructional use, showing by example a variety of binding styles, material uses, and approaches to the form. In addition, extended colophons--located near the rear [of] the library--detail at length the design and construction concerns for each book. "Signed by Mark Wagner. Each book is numbered 13 of 200.
