Active in the Republican Party, Mr. Fish was chairman of the Republican Party of Wisconsin from 1965 to 1970, and has held numerous posts in state government. Mr. Fish has served one term on the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin from 1970 to 1978, and was reappointed in 1981 for a seven-year term. This interview was conducted by Martin Dowling on March 8, 1985, as one of a series of interviews on merger of the University of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin State Universities. In this interview, Fish talks about the relationship between Governor Patrick Lucey and David Adamany. He discusses Lucey's politics regarding education and Madison campus compared with Warren Knowles's. Fish talks about the merged system's relative economy and effect on WSU and Madison campuses and answers Dowling's question about the success of merger.
