This tiny store in a village south of Vangviang in Vientiane province shows that commerce exists even in fairly remote villages. Indeed the point can be made that the more seemingly isolated the village, the greater the role for trade as between upland and valley peoples who are often less self sufficient than the more prosperous villages on the plains.
