Original 1909 copy of On Wisconsin, signed by Carl Beck, class of 1912, who wrote the words. Gift of Frank W. Sosman of Cleveland, Ohio. This is the first edition, copyright by W. T. Purdy, printed by Hillson, McCormack and Company of Chicago. The copyright was transferred in 1910 to Joseph Flanner of Flanner-Hafsoos Music House in Milwaukee. The original had only one verse, since Beck said that he wanted to keep it simple and easy to memorize. The song was introduced at a mass meeting (pep rally) at the Armory on the night of Thursday, November 11, 1909.
