Akha men and women from the surrounding Akha villages were invited to attend the dedication of the new school in Muang Meung (PC 5292, LS-93) in Houa Khong Province. They attended in full finery as reflected by their ethnic clothing and dress. This photograph shows the detail of silver used to adorn the women's headdresses, made up of bands of silver, silver trinkets, French piaster coins, and strands of beads. A silver chain hangs down from the headgear of the woman in the foreground, while both she and the other woman also wear silver bracelets. The school was dedicated on September 14, 1972.
