Aunt Lily Richmond (right) and Ollie (Olive) Green Lewis (left), of Pleasant Ridge, a Black farming community located five miles west of Lancaster that was founded by free slaves and flourished from 1850 until the 1950s. Richmond was born in Missouri in 1862 and came to Grant County, Wisconsin between 1862 and 1870. Ollie Green Lewis would be the last Black community member of Pleasant Ridge, passing away in 1959.
