Creative Drama and its Implications for Language Leaning and Teaching
Abstract
Creative Drama for teaching English as a second or foreign language has been observed to provide many benefits for heleoing leaners improve proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Creative Drama, for example, can reduce anxiety, motivate a willingness to communicate, increase engagement, and contextualize the language in meaningful ways. This paper reviews the literature regarding drama-related activities to identify a Creative Drama method, the benefits available from implementing this method, and the specifics of activities and how to implement them, culminating in a demo lesson unity that illustrates techniques from the method in a lesson for 7th grade Spanish Speaking students.
