Finding Aid for Charter School Records, 1996
Abstract
In 1996, an attempt was made by the chancellor and the board of regents to turn the University of Wisconsin-Stout into a charter school. Immediate opposition was raised by the faculty, classified, and academic staff of the university. A no confidence vote was less than favorable towards the chancellor and the concept of Stout as a charter school was dropped.
