Dwight Agnew was the first Dean of the School of Liberal Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Agnew received his bachelor’s degree from Park College, Parkville, MO.; and his Master's and PH.D. degrees from State University Iowa. He taught in public school in Colorado and Iowa before joining Stout in 1947 as the chairman of the Department of Social Science. It was under Agnew's guidance that the character of the School of Liberal Studies was formed. He is responsible for Departments of Art, English, Mathematics, Physical Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Social Science, Speech, French, Music and Distributive Education. He retired in 1976.
