Elva Carol Rogers was born in 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1953, she married Edward Morical. It was while she was a staff writer for the St. Paul Pioneer Press that she changed her first name to Lee. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University and received a B.A. in journalism from the University of Colorado. In 1971, she received an M.S. in counseling from Stout and, in 1988, her doctorate in ministry from the Ecumenical Theological Center. In 1971, while on the staff of the Ministry of UW - Stout, Lee founded the Center for Women's Alternatives. Four years later under a government grant, she founded Women Helping Women/Fear Counselor Training. She died in 1989.
