Dr. Mercedes L. Kainski was born in 1923. She Attended Alogoma High School before enrolling at the University of Wisconsin. While at Madison, Kainski received a B.S. in Home Economics (1944), a M.S. (1955) in Food & Nutrition, and Ph.D. (1957) in Foods. Before joining the faculty at Stout in 1967, Kainski taught at several high schools as well as Bowling State University and Kansas State University. As a staff member of the School of Home Economics, Kainski's concentration were in the areas of food and nutrition. Dr. Kainski retired in 1985. One year later she received professor emeritus
status from the board of regents.
