Edwin W. Siefert was born September 20, 1914. He attended high school in Menomonie, Wisconsin and graduated from the Stout Institute in 1936. He later received his M.Ed. degree from Wayne State University in 1945. He returned to Stout in 1950 as an assistant professor of machine drafting through the Department of Graphic Communications. During his career at Stout he taught topography, machine mechanical design, and general drafting. While at Stout, as a licensed Wisconsin land surveyor, he conducted the Mapping Institute at Pigeon Lake and was active in the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors. He retired in 1979.
