Dorothy F. Clure was born on November 27, 1909 in Exira, Iowa. She received her B.S. degree in textiles and clothing in 1932 from Iowa State College. From 1937-1954 Clure worked as a home economist, test kitchen specialist, kitchen appliance demonstrator, and Director of Home Economics for several companies, including Coolerator, Electromaster, Inc., Gibson Refrigerator Co., Norge, Admiral Corporation, Commonwealth Edison Company, and Evaporated Milk Association.
In 1956 Clure received her M.A. in nutrition from the University of Chicago. She began work at Stout State College in fall 1956 and was a faculty member until her retirement in 1974. In her time at Stout, Clure served as Assistant Professor of Home Economics and taught courses in home management, family economics, household equipment, demonstration techniques, and consumer information. Clure died in 1978 at the age of 68.
