In his 3 interviews with Robert G. Lange, Edward R. Hasselkus detailed his days growing up on the family farm and his enjoyment of gardening vegetables and flowers on the farm. Hasselkus spoke about his realization that farming was not for him and learning from peers that horticulture was an area of study at the university level. Hasselkus spoke of his time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1950-1994 as an undergraduate and graduate student and as a faculty member in the Department of Horticulture. Hasselkus talked about the following topics: Department of Horticulture, ROTC, Professor Moore, Professor Bill Longenecker, botany, floriculture landscape architecture, Arboretum, UW-Extension, retirement. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Oral History Program.
