The Blugold Beginnings Middle School Program was developed at the University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire to teach low-income, minority, and first-generation students necessary steps for entering a post-secondary program and also skills that are positively associated with academic success. This program supports students from sixth through eighth grade, offering them mentoring services. One hundred and thirteen students participated in the program from middle schools in the Eau Claire Area School District. The purpose of this study was to measure student growth via a pre- and post-assessment.
