This nine week course was developed for high school students who have completed a course in Algebra I or a comparable course that teaches techniques in problem solving. The purpose of the project was to develop a course in mathematics on energy that would be relevant and interesting to students. The course would increase students' skills in mathematics and provide them with the knowledge and information on energy conservation and energy issues. The course was organized in such a way that daily lessons were developed starting with an activity, which would be more group and teacher oriented, and followed with a worksheet, which would be completed individually. The course consists of four units, which provide a review of math skills, an introduction to the background and terminology used in energy, an identification of areas where energy was used in the home, and an identification of conservation practices and their effectiveness.
