SciFinder-n

SciFinder-n is the most comprehensive chemical information discovery tool of chemical information. It is used to access information in selected Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) databases: CAPlus, CARegistry, CAREACTS, CHEMCATS, and CHEMLISTS, plus the NIH database Medline. It includes relevance-ranked results, step-by-step procedures and protocols, citation mapping, biosequence searching, retrosynthetic analysis, patent landscape mapping, touch-screen enabled structure drawing and more—all accessible in a modern interface.

SciFinder requires an individual username and password. Registration information is below. If you have an account with a previous institution, you must create a new account with your UW-Madison email address.

One-time Registration (Required)

  1. Go to SciFinder Registration.
  2. Click the Users must register and obtain a personal login and password link.
  3. Click NEXT.
  4. Enter your last/first name and email address (UW-Madison email address is required)
  5. Create your user name/password
  6. Set your security question/answer.
  7. Click REGISTER.
  8. CAS will send an e-mail message to you with instructions for completing the registration process.
  9. To complete the registration process, click the link within the e-mail from CAS.  The link will expire after 48 hours.
