Abstract:
Recordings of speeches by and interviews with Martin Luther King Jr. and other leaders in the civil rights movement and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, 1955-1963, gathered by Smith for his dissertation, Martin Luther King, Jr.: Rhetorician of Revolt. Also included is a recording of a Ku Klux Klan meeting near Birmingham, Alabama, May 11, 1963 and of comments by white and black citizens on the Montgomery bus boycott and the Birmingham riots.
