Abstract:
Files of Oscar R. Cade, head of the school health program in the State Board of Health and later the Department of Health and Social Services, and, prior to 1959, a school health consultant. A few files predate his employment. Included are correspondence, memoranda, narrative and statistical reports pertaining to conferences, workshops and other training programs around the state conducted in conjunction with county teachers colleges, state teachers colleges, and local health officers, and minutes and correspondence of the State School Health Council and the Mental Health Committee of the Wisconsin Parent Teacher Association. The narrative field reports from state and district consultants document projects and conditions in individual schools, with some communities such as Baraboo, Beloit, Cambridge, Eau Claire, Menasha, and Wausau documented in greater depth by local curricular materials. The photographs document healthservices in an unidentified elementary school classroom, ca. 1950, and at Langlade County Normal School, and meetings of school health officers.
