Abstract:
Files, mainly 1971-1983, of the Bureau of Wastewater Management concerning adjudicatory hearings held to review industrial wastewater permits issued by the department. Included are petitions and requests for hearings, hearing notices, summaries of issues, transcripts, exhibits, briefs, permits, stipulations, orders and findings of fact, statements, correspondence, and memoranda. The majority of the records relate to food processers; pulp and paper manufacturers such as Bergstrom Paper Company, Fort Howard Paper Company, Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Company, and the Scott Paper Company, power generation industries, with some municpal sewer district cases concerning Neenah -Menasha and Weston also included. After 1979 these hearings were conducted by hearing examiners in the Department of Administration. Because they did not produce transcripts, cases which did not go to hearing have been weeded.
