Abstract:
Records of a commission created by Governor Tommy G. Thompson in 1996 to study Wisconsin's campaign finance laws and to make recommendation for reform. Headed by Donald F. Kettl of the LaFollette Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin, the commission was commonly known as the “Kettl Commission.” The commission submitted its final report outlining 54 recommendations in May, 1998. Included are correspondence, meeting minutes, transcripts of public testimony, and data for survey of citizen opinion conducted by the Survey Center of St. Norbert's College. The final commission report is available in the SHSW government documents section. The series includes some information on the Commission on a Clean Election Option chaired by Nathan Heffernan.
