Abstract:
Correspondence; reports and policy papers; memoranda; data; and other research material, 1959-2006, created by the division in the course of assisting the Department of Revenue with its economic, legislative, and tax policy functions. Included are materials on general types of taxation including income, inheritance, property, sales taxes; data and information on projects such as the state econometric model and the tax model for the tax burden study; and files on general issues such as economic forecasts, equalization, farmland preservation, homestead and property tax relief programs, levy limits, the manufacturing and equipment exemption and other exemptions, mining, revenue estimates, revenue sharing and state aids, and Wisconsin-Minnesota tax reciprocity. Extensive files document the division's involvement in the preparation and review of the biennial state budget, 1975-1987. Also included are files on various reform commissions and studies in which division or department personnel participated such as the Continuing Revenue Survey Committee, the Economic Development Coordinating Committee, and the Tax Reform Commission.
