Abstract:
Records of a task force of business leaders and other private citizens that studied ways in which Wisconsin government might be managed more efficiently. Headed by William R. Kellett, the committee was sometimes referred to by his name, although it must be distinguished from several other citizen task forces of the 1960's that he also headed. Included are the published report, various drafts of the report and its numerous recommendations, statistics, and other data collected, notes on interviews with governmental officials, press releases, clippings, minutes, and other research material. Added to this series were departmental reports, 1966, collected by George Kaiser of the Department of Administration on the progress made in implementing the committee's recommendations. The committee did not review all aspects of state government; well covered were the departments of education, public welfare, administration, highways and motor vehicles. The study also placed great emphasis on studying improvements through automation, data processing, and records management.
