Abstract:
Sampled case files of the Division's central office on adult men and women discharged from probation between 1955 and 1967, and in 1978, including interstate transfers. Files typically include a summary face sheet, chronological probation history, pre-sentence investigation, court orders, monthly progress reports, and related correspondence. Individuals on probation were not incarcerated in a correctional institution, but were required to report regularly to a probation officer and comply with certain rules for the duration of their sentence. Officers worked out of district field offices and reported to the Field Services Section of the Division of Corrections.
