Abstract:
General records of the board, mainly 1932-1984, concerning examinations and licensing of dentists and dental hygienists and the regulation of dental practice. The earlier files are arranged as a chronological file dating from 1932 to 1935 and as an alphabetical name file covering the period, 1933-1960. This section includes numerous exchanges between Stephen F. Donovan, secretary of the board, and investigator Charles J. Baumann concerning violations of the statutory limitations on advertising and other cases of professional discipline. A miscellaneous file contains similar, but less substantial correspondence and inquiries. Later files, which are arranged as an alphabetical subject file include correspondence with the general public, professional organizations such as the American Dental Association and the Wisconsin Dental Association and with Marquette University School of Dentistry; numerous legal opinions prepared by the Attorney General; minutes of advisory committees; and drafts and additional correspondence on revision of the laws and rules governing professional practice. A few older items concern the credentialing of applicants for dental schools.
