Volumes listing each juvenile admitted to the institution before 1927 showing name, case number assigned at the time of admittance, age, date of reception, official from whom received, date and court of commitment, reason for commitment, sentence, family background, previous history of the inmate, education, nationality, religion, at whose expense the child was kept, a brief history of the child while an inmate of the school and more extensive information about parole, and comments and remarks. Some inmates are documented by notes, correspondence, photographs, clippings, and other documents relative to their subsequent histories. Although the preponderance of the documented juveniles are young women, during its early years very young boys were also admitted to the Milwaukee Industrial School.
