Abstract:
Financial reports of city clerks summarizing the receipts and disbursements for each fiscal year, pursuant to Section 73.10(2) of the Wisconsin Statutes. The report categories include receipts from taxes, licenses and permits, state aid, and commercial revenue; and disbursements such as government operations, protection fees, and health, highway, education, and recreation expenses. Also included in the files is correspondence between the clerks and the Department concerning corrections and explanations of entries in the reports. This function was performed by the State Tax Commission and the Department of Taxation until 1947; the Department of State Audit, 1947-1966; the Department of Administration, 1966-1971; and the Department of Revenue since 1971.
