Abstract:
Financial reports of town and village clerks showing receipts from taxes, cutting weeds, fire insurance tax, licenses and permits, state aid, and commercial revenue; and disbursements such as governmental operations, protection fees, and health, highway, education, and recreation expenses. Included also is correspondence between the clerks and the Department concerning corrections and explanations of entries in the reports. This function was performed by the State Tax Commission and the Department of Taxation until 1947; and the Department of State Audit, 1947-1966.
