Abstract:
Portfolio of original watercolors; pen and ink, pencil and other drawings; and oil paintings presented to Vinnie Ream Hoxie as a wedding present by members of the Washington Society of Fine Arts, 1878. Included are sketches by various artists of scenes in North Carolina, the Catskills, and landscapes along the Potomac River. Artists include William Carl Brown, John Cranch, Flavius J. Fisher, Gustave W. Forsberg, Susan E.W. Fuller, William Henry Holmes, Jessie M. Kennedy, Frances I. Lockwood, Eleazer Hutchinson Miller, Mary E. Nealy, M.G Newton, Edward Selmar Siebert, and Max Weyl. A few artists are anonymous or incompletely identified.
