Abstract:
Papers of Tuttle, a conservative political and community leader from Eagle River (Wis.) consisting of his subject files on his participation and leadership of a chapter of the John Birch Society; correspondence with Joseph McCarthy; and records from his leadership of the Vilas County (Wis.) Republican Party in the late 1950s. Also documented is the controversy at Eagle River High School over the introduction of conservative books in the school library and attempts to censor liberal pamphlets and periodicals. The tape recording is of a speech given by Robert Welch in which he warns of communist intent to create divisions in the United States.
