Abstract:
Photographs and films made by Gary Schulz, a photographer for the University of Wisconsin News Service and the Photo Media Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, from 1945 to 1985. The majority depict buildings, activities, and events at the University of Wisconsin. Images include meetings of the Board of Regents, athletic events, commencement exercises, and student demonstrations. Other subjects include student housing immediately after World War II, the bombing of Sterling Hall, the school band and University Singers, the Rose Bowl game in 1963, and campus Red Cross blood drives. There are also images of individuals, including Presidents Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, and John F. Kennedy and notables such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Bob Hope. Also included are plaques and publications.
