Abstract:
Records of the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD), a national media group whose mission is to document the influence of corporations on public policy and the electorate. The CMD was established in Madison in 1993 by John Stauber, who served as Executive Director until 2009 when he retired to work as an independent activist. The collection includes subject files on issues such as toxic sludge, mad cow disease, global warming, biotechnology, and tobacco/smoking and consists of articles, news clippings, interviews, tear sheets, reviews, research, correspondence, advertising and public relations, reports, and surveys.
