Abstract:
Research materials, 1989-1998 (bulk 1991-1992), collected by David Peterson, a professor of theater and music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, for his biography of Princess Nadonis Shawa, also known as Louise Alston Burleigh, an Ojibwa poetess and entertainer during the 1910s through 1940s. Included is correspondence between Peterson and his contacts; handwritten and typed notes, outlines, and ideas; a copy of the finished manuscript; a copy of the biography from the Wisconsin Dells Events (in 4 parts); and genealogical and background research materials (some photocopied material) regarding Princess Nadonis and her career.
