Abstract:

Records include prison calendars, 1906-1955, which list the name, residence, age, physical characteristics, charge, jail term, date of the case, and remarks for persons arrested under the sheriff's jurisdiction; a record of sheriff's calls, October 1934-July 1935, stating the reason for the call, a description of the suspect, if any, and a summary of the investigation; a register of juveniles taken into custody, 1954-1968, which includes the date of admission, juvenile's name, residence, sex, and birthdate, parents' names, name of the officer in charge, charges, disposition of the case, and release date; and a jail register, 1955-1970, which lists, for each person jailed, the name, date, residence, age, sex, race, marital status, nativity, parents' nativity, literacy, occupation, charge, arrest officer, details of the arrest, when and how the case was processed, sentence, discharge date, and remarks.
