Abstract:

General correspondence relating to the Refugee Assistance program and other correspondence concerning the three separate areas of the refugee program: Indochinese refugees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, and unaccompanied minors. There are also contract files containing correspondence between Division staff and contract agencies; workshop and training materials; expenditure reports for the contract agencies; and preliminary and final financial status reports. The Refugee Assistance program was initially set up to provide financial and medical assistance and social services to Indochinese refugees. The program expanded in 1980 to include Cuban and Haitian entrants. This material is filed under the provisions of various Federal laws including P.L. 94-23 (Indochina Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1975), P.L. 96-212 (Refugee Act of 1980), and P.L. 96-422 (Refugee Education Assistance Act of 1980).
