Records of a campus-wide committee that directed the
development of new and existing instructional units, programs, courses, and curricular
matters. The collection contains correspondence, minutes, and inter-departmental memos
documenting new course proposals, the creation of new departments, and changes in course
descriptions. Records prior to the formation of UW-Milwaukee in 1956 consist of general
reports and recommendations on curricula for the Milwaukee State Teacher's College and the
Wisconsin State College, Milwaukee. Of particular interest are the audits and reviews of
various colleges, schools, and departments within the university and the Ten-Year Plan
(1974-1984) which was intended to guide UWM into the future. In later materials, one can
also see attempts to bring academic programs in line with the "Milwaukee Idea."
