Abstract:
The La Crosse Committee on Aging began in 1965 and was a quasi-public entity. In the early 1990s, the organization's finances came under public scrutiny. The board of directors dissolved the group in 1992. Records are divided into two major categories of administrative files and financial materials; within the series the files are listed alphabetically. Administrative materials include board of directors' files such as minutes (1964-1979; 1981-1988; 1990-1992) and a list of members (1966-1991). Other files include executive correspondence, legal documents, newsletters, and materials related to special events sponsored by the Committee. Financial materials include audits (1974-1991), grant information, IRS correspondence, ledgers (1970-1992), treasurers' reports (1967-1991), correspondence and financial reporting to the United Way, and various tax documents.
