Alluding to the “V for Victory” symbol that was widely used during World War II, the Manitowoc, Wisconsin Monday Music Club’s 1943-1944 yearbook features a red “V” design on its front cover. As shown on these sample pages, the small twelve page booklet contains a list of former club presidents, rosters of current officers and members, and a schedule of program topics for the year’s meetings including several sessions on “Music of Allies.” Handwritten notes and changes have been added in pencil. Manitowoc’s Monday Music Club was organized in 1899 as a women’s organization whose purpose was “to bring the spiritualization force of music to the inner life of our nation.”
